Utmost appreciation for Laila-Rose

LAILA-ROSE HUDSON is a former foster youth and participant in the 2021 CCAI's Foster Youth Internship (FYI) Program.  After aging out of foster care in Alabama, Laila-Rose graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Alabama Birmingham with a bachelor's degree in political science. During her undergraduate career, she volunteered with CASA and presented to foster youth regarding resources to support their post-secondary success and transition into youth adulthood. She is currently a third-year law student pursuing a Juris Doctor degree at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

As a law student, Laila-Rose has worked closely with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services in the Office of Children’s Services Transformation and has served as a non-voting member on a CASA-adjacent board. In 2020, Laila-Rose worked with Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s Foster Youth Intern COVID-19 Pandemic Working Group and provided federal policy recommendations to the U.S. Congress, Administration, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on the critical need for child welfare workforce disaster preparedness after the pandemic.

Laila-Rose's insights were recently published in the 2021 CCAI internship report: Building the Path for Change in the Child Welfare System
