Three things Lisa shared that were left out of this interview:
1.) One of the authors of the Family First Act was later hired as a lobbyist for LA County in California to forestall having to implement it, because there weren't enough available foster care placements, especially for teens.
2.) A suggestion has been made to have more 'independent living' homes that prepare teens for young adulthood. They could operate similar to a dorm, with some of the teens serving as RAs and the house parents serving as life skills coaches and mentors.
3.) Ohio foster youth themselves have served as leaders by creating videos to encourage people to foster and adopt teens, and helping design a future training track for foster parents to encourage and empower them to foster teens.
